
MISSISSIPPI — One person was found shot to death as police investigated a possible shootout early Monday morning on Interstate 55 in Southaven.
According to the Southaven Police Department, officers were called to the interstate after receiving reports of gunfire between people in two separate vehicles traveling on I-55.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered one person who had died from gunfire, police said.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation reported two crashes around 6:30 a.m., one on northbound I-55 between Star Landing Road and Pleasant Hill Road, and another on the southbound lanes just north of Church Road East.
Police confirmed the crashes were connected to the shooting but did not provide additional details, saying the investigation remains ongoing.
