NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities in Burke County are investigating after a man was found dead along Interstate 40 on Wednesday.
According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on March 18 after receiving reports of a person lying face down on the side of the roadway. First responders arrived at the scene near the Exit 113 bridge and discovered a deceased male.
Officials have not released the identity of the individual.
The body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
No additional details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
