MISSISSIPPI — One person is dead and several others were seriously injured following a crash in Quitman County, according to the Coahoma County Fire Department.
Firefighters said the crash occurred Thursday around 4 p.m. on Highway 6 and involved an overturned vehicle.
Upon arrival, first responders found one person trapped underneath the vehicle. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said multiple other victims suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. Those individuals were airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials have not released the identities of those involved.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
