MISSISSIPPI — One person was killed during a crash early Friday morning along the Interstate 55 Frontage Road, according to police.
The crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Jan. 30, 2026. Authorities with the Jackson Police Department said a black Toyota Camry occupied by two males was traveling southbound on Interstate 55 at a high rate of speed when it ran off the roadway and came to rest underneath a bridge.
Police said a 17-year-old occupant died as a result of the crash. A 21-year-old was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries was not immediately released.
Investigators noted that it has not yet been determined which of the occupants was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
