MISSISSIPPI — A man died following a vehicle chase involving a George County deputy on Monday, according to authorities.
Officials with the George County Sheriff’s Office said Austin McCraney died after the pursuit, which occurred March 23.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the chase or how McCraney died.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is leading the case.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this incident,” said Sheriff Mitchell Mixon.
Officials said they are cooperating fully with state investigators as they conduct an independent review.
The investigation remains ongoing.
