One person dead after being struck by vehicle in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — A pedestrian was killed in a crash late Wednesday night, according to the Marlboro County Coroner’s Office.

Officials said the incident occurred around 10:58 p.m. on Cottingham Boulevard in Bennettsville. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Bennettsville Police Department and the Marlboro County Coroner’s Office are investigating the crash.

In a statement, the coroner’s office said it is committed to serving the citizens of Marlboro County “with dignity, respect, and professionalism during difficult times.”

Additional details will be released as the investigation continues.
