MISSISSIPPI — A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading Capitol Police on a brief pursuit in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

According to officials, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 2:21 p.m. on a vehicle that did not have a tag. The driver failed to stop and instead led officers on a pursuit through the city.

The chase ended near the intersection of Woodrow Wilson Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Police identified the driver as 36-year-old Jarvaris Davis.

Authorities said Davis attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended without further incident.

Officials later determined the vehicle Davis was driving had been reported stolen. He was also wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service at the time of his arrest.

Davis is now facing multiple charges, including felony fleeing and possession of a stolen vehicle.

No additional information has been released.
