VIRGINIA — A man wanted on multiple warrants peacefully surrendered to law enforcement Monday night after a nearly three-hour barricaded standoff, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to 91 Camp Branch Road around 7:40 p.m. to serve five outstanding warrants—two felonies and three misdemeanors—on Darren Earl Bacon Jr. of Martinsville.
Upon arrival, deputies heard a television playing and noticed movement inside the home but were unable to make contact with Bacon.
Authorities then obtained a search warrant and deployed the Henry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, including negotiators and the Drone Team.
After breaching the front door, officers flew a drone into the residence and located Bacon in a bedroom. Shortly afterward, Bacon exited the home and surrendered without incident.
Bacon is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. His charges include:
- Entering a dwelling with intent to commit larceny, assault and battery, or other felony (Martinsville)
- Larceny of certain animals (felony) (Martinsville)
- Intentionally damaging property (misdemeanor) (Martinsville)
- Simple assault (2 counts, misdemeanor) (Martinsville)
- Resisting arrest and obstructing justice (misdemeanor) (Henry County)
