ALABAMA — A 32-year-old Huntsville man was arrested Saturday after authorities say he fired a gun into an apartment following a dispute.
Huntsville Police responded around 5 p.m. to a shots-fired call in the 4500 block of Bonnell Drive. Officers found that a bullet had struck an apartment, but no one inside was injured.
Authorities identified the suspect as Derell Deonta Hamlett, who was detained nearby. The Huntsville Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit took over the investigation, which determined that Hamlett had been involved in an altercation, returned with a firearm, and shot into the apartment.
Hamlett was arrested on charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and a warrant for violation of probation. He was booked into the Madison County Jail.
