MISSISSIPPI — A traffic stop in Tremont earlier this week led to the arrest of a man on felony drug charges, according to the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said deputies, along with agents from the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, conducted a traffic stop on Highway 23 South on December 9 as part of a narcotics investigation. During the stop, law enforcement made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Keith Aters.
Authorities reported that during the roadside investigation, several bags of methamphetamine were discovered. Aters was taken into custody and transported to the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department, where a hold was placed pending further narcotics investigation.
Aters has been charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute. Bond was set at $75,000.
