
VIRGINIA — A man is in custody following an attempted armed robbery at a restaurant in the Danieltown area of Brunswick County.
According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, for an attempted robbery with a firearm at Simona’s Restaurant.
Upon arrival, deputies identified the suspect as Meshach Elder.
During the investigation, authorities learned that Elder had also allegedly brandished a firearm earlier that evening at Dots County Store, also located in Danieltown.
Deputies tracked Elder to the 2700 block of Blue Bird Road, where the sheriff’s special response team was deployed. He was taken into custody without incident just after midnight on Thursday, July 17.
Elder is currently being held at Meherrin River Regional Jail.
