KENTUCKY — A man is facing multiple charges after authorities say a bread delivery truck was stolen Thursday morning.
According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers responded to a stolen vehicle report at the Chick-fil-A on Campbell Lane.
The caller reported leaving the keys inside a Klosterman Baking Company truck while entering the restaurant. Upon returning, he discovered the truck circling the parking lot before driving off. The vehicle contained over $4,000 worth of buns scheduled for delivery.
Police observed the truck traveling down Russellville Road. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the truck failed to stop, and deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office also attempted to pull the vehicle over without success. The truck then turned back toward town, prompting officers to deploy spike strips, which disabled all four tires.
The driver, identified as 20-year-old Kayden Echols of Bowling Green, was taken into custody. Police said Echols told officers he had taken the truck to reach his destination but realized he was going the wrong way.
Echols remains in the Warren County Regional Jail on multiple charges, including first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, theft by unlawful taking, and first-degree criminal mischief.
