OHIO — A man is facing multiple charges after police say he intentionally caused a crash during a domestic dispute Wednesday evening.

Officers were dispatched just before 5 p.m. to the area of South Avenue near Simon Road for reports of a crash. According to an incident report, witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Cornell Barnes Sr., left the scene on foot and walked to a nearby home following the collision.

The driver of the vehicle told officers that Barnes, who was a passenger, became involved in an argument and threatened to “hurt [them] all.” Police say Barnes then allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and forced the vehicle into oncoming traffic, causing the crash.

Authorities said the dispute involved a child who was also in the vehicle at the time. The child suffered a cut to the face as a result of the collision.

Police later located Barnes sitting on the porch of a nearby apartment complex. According to reports, he initially denied being at the scene but was taken into custody. Investigators said Barnes admitted to being a passenger but denied arguing with the driver or grabbing the wheel.

Barnes has been charged with felonious assault, endangering children and domestic violence. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
