
VIRGINIA — A man is in custody after allegedly abducting a woman at gunpoint Thursday morning in Richmond, according to the Richmond Police Department.
Officers were called to the 2700 block of Commerce Road at approximately 7:22 a.m. on July 31 for a report of an abduction.
Witnesses told police that a man had forced a woman into a silver-colored vehicle at gunpoint.
Multiple units within the Richmond Police Department, along with assistance from the Metro Aviation Unit and the U.S. Marshals Task Force, launched a coordinated investigation.
Authorities said the suspect was located and arrested, and the woman was safely rescued.
According to police, the victim was assaulted during the abduction and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect also received treatment for minor injuries.
Detectives have determined the incident was domestic-related. Charges are pending as the investigation remains ongoing.
