OHIO — A man was transported by helicopter to a Dayton-area hospital Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Darke County.
The crash occurred at the intersection of State Route 47 and Conover Road at approximately 10:07 a.m. on Jan. 29.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck failed to yield while making a turn, resulting in a collision with an oncoming semi-truck.
Investigators said Christopher Magoto, 47, of Versailles, was driving a black 2010 Ford F-150 westbound on State Route 47. Magoto attempted to make a left turn onto Conover Road and entered the path of an eastbound 2021 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by Anthony Cornett, 29, of Saint Marys, Ohio.
The impact caused the semi-truck to leave the right side of the roadway and come to rest in a nearby field. The pickup truck was forced off the left side of the road and stopped in a ditch.
Magoto was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Cornett was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and was released.
The crash remains under investigation.
