
OHIO — Law enforcement agencies across Northeast Ohio have announced multiple OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) checkpoints this week as part of a statewide initiative to reduce alcohol- and drug-related crashes.
In Olmsted Township, police will hold a checkpoint on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 7 to 11 p.m. on Columbia Road.
In Stark County, two checkpoints are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 17.
The Cleveland Division of Police, in partnership with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, will also operate a checkpoint on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The exact location will be announced that morning.
The Summit County OVI Task Force will conduct multiple checkpoints over the weekend. Operations will begin on Friday, Sept. 19, and continue into the early morning of Saturday, Sept. 20. Additional checkpoints are planned for Saturday evening, Sept. 20, running into the early hours of Sunday, Sept. 21.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol also announced that a checkpoint will be set up in Sandusky County this weekend, with the location to be revealed the morning of the operation.
Officials urge drivers to make safe choices and avoid driving under the influence.
