PENNSYLVANIA — Several school districts in western Pennsylvania have announced closures or remote instruction for Monday, March 16, as officials monitor developing weather conditions and other potential disruptions.

Multiple districts in Allegheny and Butler counties said students will not attend classes in person, with some shifting to remote instruction or flexible learning days.

Chartiers Valley School District, located in Allegheny County near Pittsburgh, announced that Monday will be a Flexible Instruction Day, meaning school buildings will be closed while students complete assignments remotely.

North Allegheny School District, also in Allegheny County, made a similar announcement. The district said schools will be closed Monday with a Flexible Instruction Day, allowing students to complete coursework from home.

In Butler County, Mars Area School District announced that students will participate in remote instruction Monday, with no transportation provided for either the morning or afternoon sessions.

Meanwhile, O’Hara Elementary School in Fox Chapel, Allegheny County, said the school will be closed for both the morning and afternoon on Monday.

School officials said the schedule changes are intended to maintain instruction while ensuring student and staff safety. Families are encouraged to check district websites and communication systems for additional updates or instructions related to remote learning.

District leaders also reminded parents and students to monitor announcements throughout the day Monday in case additional closures or schedule adjustments are announced.
