
TENNESSEE — Emergency crews responded to an explosion inside a building in East Nashville on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a hazardous materials response and evacuation, according to the Nashville Fire Department.
The incident occurred in the 900 block of Main Street. A 9-1-1 caller reported an explosion inside the building that caused a wall to collapse.
Authorities said people inside the building were instructed to evacuate as crews arrived on scene. Fire officials noted that nothing was visible from the exterior of the building upon arrival, and the situation is being treated as a hazardous materials incident.
One person was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with burns. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Traffic in the area has been impacted, with at least one lane blocked as emergency responders continue to work the scene.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Officials said the situation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
