MISSISSIPPI — A student’s grandfather was taken into custody Monday morning after allegedly trying to bring a gun onto the Alcorn Central campus in Alcorn County, Mississippi.
The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office said the man came to the school, where his grandchild attends, but did not have access to enter. A school resource officer intercepted him in the parking lot before he could enter the building.
Authorities said the man attempted to produce a firearm, but the officer quickly subdued him and took him into custody.
He was transported to the Alcorn County Jail. Police said they believe the incident was isolated.
