Four people dead following shooting incident near Mississippi high school football game

MISSISSIPPI — Leland police are investigating a mass shooting that left four people dead and four others critically injured during the city’s high school homecoming on October 10.

State Senator Derrick T. Simmons said a total of 20 people were shot that night at Leland High School’s homecoming game.

The four victims who were critically injured were airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The identities of the deceased victims have not yet been released.

At this time, no suspect information has been provided.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, confirmed that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) will assist Leland police with the ongoing investigation.
