NORTH CAROLINA — Four Charlotte residents were arrested Monday after deputies say they were caught in the middle of a larceny at the Walmart on Cooper Creek Drive in Mocksville and later linked to a series of similar thefts across North Carolina.

According to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the store around 5:26 p.m. on Dec. 1 for a reported larceny in progress. When they arrived, Walmart staff provided descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. Deputies found the vehicle in the parking lot, where two men were still loading merchandise into it.

The men — identified as Jacob Taylor Reid, 38, and Severiano Alonso Mata, 26, both of Charlotte — were detained at the scene. Deputies later located two additional suspects nearby: Tiffany Cornelius Reid, 41, and Alexandra Marie Soma, 31, also of Charlotte.

Investigators said the group is believed to be responsible for multiple larcenies at Walmart locations throughout the state over the past 90 days, with stolen merchandise valued at more than $21,000. A sheriff’s office K-9, Smoke, also alerted to the presence of narcotics in the suspects’ vehicle.

All four were arrested and face numerous charges:

He received a $35,000 bond and a Jan. 15, 2026 court date.

Severiano Alonso Mata was charged with felony organized retail theft, felony conspiracy, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony altering or destroying criminal evidence, misdemeanor marijuana-related offenses, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $25,000 bond and the same Jan. 15 court date.

Alexandra Marie Soma was charged with felony organized retail theft, felony conspiracy, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor larceny. She received a $4,000 secured bond and was also served with an outstanding Mecklenburg County warrant for felony tampering with an anti-theft device.
