MISSISSIPPI — A fight outside a downtown bar early Sunday morning led to gunfire hitting a vehicle, though no one was injured, police said.
Officers responded around 2:50 a.m. to the intersection of Government Street and Washington Avenue after reports of a shooting. Police found several shell casings in the roadway.
According to Ocean Springs Police, the incident began at the Salty Peach Bar when a driver honked at an unknown person standing in a parking space, triggering a physical altercation.
The driver returned to his vehicle and left, traveling west on Government Street. As the vehicle turned north on Washington Avenue, occupants heard gunshots and noticed another vehicle behind them.
While the car was damaged by bullets, no occupants were injured. No arrests have been made. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from area businesses and city cameras to identify the suspect or suspects.
