
KANSAS — One person was killed Monday evening in a head-on collision on U.S. 169, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 5:35 p.m. when 58-year-old Jerri Francis of Chanute, who was driving south, crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle. Francis died from her injuries.
The other driver, a 19-year-old man from Iola, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials said both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
