OHIO — A Columbus man is celebrating a big win after hitting the top prize on the Ohio Lottery’s Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X scratch-off ticket.

James, who purchased the winning $5 ticket at United Food Mart on South High Street, said he chose his ticket on a whim after seeing another customer select one from a nearby bin.

He picked his from the other bin — a choice that paid off in a big way.

“I started scratching and the first spot was $10,000, and it kept going and going,” James said. The final prize totaled $150,000.

After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, James will take home $108,000.

He plans to use the money to buy a new car for his wife, make home improvements, and take a well-earned vacation.

The Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X offers a top prize of $150,000. As of April 11, eight top prizes remain.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education. For more information, visit www.ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
