
KENTUCKY — A worker was taken to the hospital after falling into a river Wednesday morning in Newport, Kentucky.
Emergency crews were called around 9 a.m. to the River Metals Recycling facility in Newport, according to officials.
The Newport Fire Department said the worker fell into the Licking River, prompting a large-scale water rescue operation. Fire crews were able to remove the worker from the river.
According to the Newport fire chief, the employee was conscious and alert after being rescued and was transported to UC Medical Center for further evaluation.
No additional details about the circumstances of the fall or the worker’s condition were released.
