OHIO — Akron police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman early Sunday, which is being investigated as a homicide.
Officers responded around 1 a.m. on Aug. 31 to a sudden death call in the 600 block of Talbot Avenue. The 39-year-old woman was taken to Summa Health Akron, where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit determined the woman may have been assaulted at a home on West Dalton Street. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her cause of death as blunt force trauma, noting multiple injuries.
Police identified the victim’s partner, 43-year-old Rasheed Lagway, as a person of interest. After gathering additional evidence, warrants were obtained for his arrest. Lagway was taken into custody Thursday morning by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
He faces charges of murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence.
