FLORIDA — An adult woman was found dead early Wednesday beneath a bridge in Oakland Park in what investigators believe was a hit-and-run crash.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the area of West Prospect Road and Northwest Ninth Avenue around 12:19 a.m. after receiving a report of a possibly deceased person.
When crews arrived, they located an injured woman at the scene who was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said the victim was not in a designated crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver involved in the crash fled the scene.
Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a 2016 to 2018 Nissan Maxima.
Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
