NORTH CAROLINA — A woman is facing multiple felony drug charges after police say she was found unconscious inside a vehicle at a gas pump early Thursday morning in Morganton.
According to Morganton Public Safety, officers responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. April 9 after employees reported that a vehicle had been sitting at a gas pump for about an hour. When officers approached the vehicle, they found the driver, identified as 45-year-old Casey Calhoun Shady, passed out behind the wheel.
Police said that after waking Shady, officers learned she had an active arrest order and took her into custody without incident. During a search, officers found several baggies containing a white powdery substance later confirmed to be fentanyl, along with psilocybin mushrooms and drug paraphernalia.
Investigators said approximately 5.5 grams of fentanyl were seized.
Shady now faces multiple felony drug charges and was placed under a $25,000 secured bond. She was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
