ILLINOIS — A Wisconsin man was arrested after Illinois State Police seized nearly 100 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Interstate 74 in Bloomington.

According to the Illinois State Police, the stop occurred just before 1 p.m. on April 6 along eastbound I-74, just outside Bloomington in McLean County.

Authorities said a trooper with the agency’s Troop 5 Criminal Patrol Team conducted the stop on a passenger vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed multiple packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 99.7 pounds.

Investigators estimate the drugs have a street value of nearly $500,000.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 25-year-old Ivan Kuckuk of Madison, was taken into custody without incident.

Officials said the case was presented to the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office, which charged Kuckuk with methamphetamine trafficking, a Class X felony.

Kuckuk is currently being held at the McLean County Jail pending his first court appearance.
