VIRGINIA — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools and offices are closed today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, after a safety threat was received overnight.
School officials said the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Law enforcement is currently investigating the threat, and all division buildings will remain closed while a thorough review is conducted.
“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority,” the school division said in a statement. “We understand that unexpected closures can cause disruptions for families and staff, and we appreciate their understanding as we take necessary steps to ensure everyone’s safety.”
The school system said additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
