
VIRGINIA — Several school divisions across Virginia have announced delayed openings, closures, or a switch to remote learning for Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, as districts adjust schedules due to inclement weather and related conditions.
Multiple school systems will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday. These include Bland County Schools, Carroll County Public Schools, Grayson County Schools, Highland County Schools, Smyth County Schools, Dickenson County Schools, Lee County Schools, Norton City Schools, Washington County Schools, and Wise County Schools. Schools in Clintwood, Independence, Jonesville, Marion, Gate City, and Norton are included in those delay announcements.
In Lynchburg, E.C. Glass High School will be closed Thursday, according to school officials.
Meanwhile, Scott County Schools will shift to remote learning, designating Thursday as an Inclement Weather Dayrather than holding in-person classes.
Families are encouraged to check district communications for updates on transportation schedules, meal services, and extracurricular activities, as conditions and operating decisions may change.
