OHIO — Several central Ohio communities are hosting parades, ceremonies, and special events this weekend to honor Veterans Day, which is observed annually on Nov. 11.

The day is dedicated to recognizing and honoring America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve.

Community Ceremonies

The American Legion Paschal Post 164 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 8198 will host their annual Veterans Day service at Town Center Park, 3359 Park Street, beginning at 11 a.m.

Westerville

Westerville will start its Veterans Day observances with a sunrise wreath-laying ceremony at the Westerville Veterans Memorial inside the Westerville Sports Complex.

The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, begins early Monday morning.

Later that morning, the city will host its annual Veterans Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Renaissance Westerville Hotel’s Admiral Ballroom, located at 409 Altair Parkway.

Tickets for the breakfast are $15 and can be purchased at the Westerville Community Center. Veterans with valid identification can receive free tickets.

Additional Events for Veterans

National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM)
The NVMM will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11.

Ted Carter, President of The Ohio State University and a U.S. Navy veteran, will serve as the keynote speaker. Veterans Day admission tickets are discounted to $5.

On Nov. 10, the NVMM will host the Ohio MilVets Veterans Day Rally from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will feature entertainment, veteran-related vendors, and a complimentary meal for all veterans.

Attendees will also receive discounted or complimentary admission to both the NVMM and COSI.

Additionally, attendees can support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” program by bringing a toy to the rally.

Central Ohio’s Veterans Day events offer an opportunity for the community to come together in gratitude for the service and sacrifice of veterans.
