ILLINOIS — Illinois State Police are responding to a serious personal injury crash on Route 16 in Shelby County, authorities said Saturday morning.
Troop 7 troopers and the Illinois Department of Transportation were dispatched to the scene at IL Route 16 near 2450 E around 8:42 a.m.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported that Route 16, approximately six miles east of Shelbyville, was closed in the area as of 8:46 a.m.
Drivers are advised to use alternative routes and exercise caution near the crash site. Lane blockages are affecting traffic in the area.
