OHIO — A two-vehicle crash near a power substation at the intersection of state Route 29 and McCartyville Road on Monday night has left thousands of Shelby County residents without electricity.
The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., and reports indicate that injuries were sustained.
By midnight, AES Ohio’s online outage map showed that 3,244 customers were affected by the outage across the county.
Sidney has been hit particularly hard, with multiple areas experiencing power interruptions. Some residents reported that their electricity has been flickering on and off since the accident.
The intersection of Russell Road and Wapakoneta Avenue, along with several other major intersections, had no working traffic lights as of 11 p.m., creating hazards for drivers navigating the area.
Crews are actively working to restore power, but it is unclear when service will be fully restored.
