CLEVELAND — U.S. Marshals arrested 37-year-old Michael H. Hurley on Friday morning, following a months-long search.
Hurley was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police in connection with an aggravated murder that occurred in May.
The incident dates back to May 8, 2024, when Cleveland Police responded to a residence on E. 88th Place after a dead body was found inside a burning building.
Firefighters had been extinguishing the blaze when they discovered the body.
An autopsy later revealed the victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Hurley was soon identified as a suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Friday morning, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force located Hurley at a residence on Lancashire Road in Cleveland Heights.
He was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Cleveland Police.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott praised the work of local investigators, stating, “This arrest is another example of the outstanding efforts put forth by the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit. Their dedication led to the identification of this violent suspect, and our task force members safely apprehended him.”
Hurley is now awaiting further legal proceedings.
