FLORIDA — Two workers were shot Tuesday afternoon in a Winter Park neighborhood during a confrontation with suspects accused of trying to steal tools, according to police and a witness.
The incident occurred on Overlook Road, south of State Road 426. Authorities said the victims were part of a window installation crew working at a home when a vehicle pulled up and suspects attempted to take their tools.
Javier Riano, an employee with the company, said the workers confronted the suspects, at which point gunfire was exchanged and two workers were shot.
Winter Park police said both victims were taken to the hospital, though the extent of their injuries has not been released.
Police said the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, prompting a pursuit that ended in the Lake Mary area. Authorities confirmed that two suspects are now in custody.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details have not yet been released.
