
OHIO — Two men were arrested during a coordinated multi-agency operation conducted Thursday, Dec. 11, in Montgomery County, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said deputies worked alongside the R.A.N.G.E. Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force to apprehend individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.
Authorities arrested Charles Steinmetz on High Ridge Avenue in Montgomery County. Officials said Steinmetz attempted to flee from law enforcement but was eventually taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, investigators reported that he was in possession of a firearm and narcotics.
Steinmetz was wanted on multiple federal warrants, including charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute methamphetamine, use of a communication facility to facilitate felonies under the Controlled Substance Act, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He was also wanted on a parole violation related to a prior drug trafficking conviction. Federal authorities are reviewing potential additional charges connected to other weapons and narcotics allegedly found in his possession.
During the same operation, law enforcement also arrested Josheph Hartz on an active Montgomery County warrant for a probation violation. The violation stemmed from original charges of burglary and breaking and entering.
“These arrests reflect the outstanding teamwork and collaboration of our deputies and federal partners. We thank everyone involved for their efforts,” the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
