VIRGINIA — Roanoke Police have arrested two teenagers believed to be responsible for several robberies across the city, officials announced Tuesday.

According to police, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody on October 23 after officers found them squatting in an old railroad car.

The investigation began after a robbery was reported in the 700 block of Brandon Avenue Southwest on October 19.

Photos of a suspect were shared on social media and with local news outlets, leading to multiple tips that helped investigators locate the teens.

Police said the 16-year-old has been charged in connection with the Brandon Avenue robbery and another robbery at a business in the 2000 block of Colonial Avenue Southwest on October 22.

The 17-year-old faces charges related to two gas station robberies—one in the 800 block of Tazewell Avenue Southeast on August 30 and another in the 1800 block of Memorial Avenue Southwest on October 11.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and that additional charges may be filed.
