OHIO — Two women from Canton have been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man found in Akron earlier this year, according to the Canton Police Department.

Police said Jerry L. Morris, 54, was found dead in Akron on August 1, but investigators from both the Canton and Akron police departments later determined the killing actually occurred in Canton.

On October 21, Canton police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested Yolanda R. Lowery, 54, and her mother, Dorothy Lowery, 70, at their home in Canton. Both women are being held at the Stark County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not released details about a possible motive or the circumstances leading to Morris’ death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Canton Police Detective Bureau at 330-489-3144. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Tip411 or Stark County Crime Stoppers. Residents can sign up for Tip411 at www.cantonohio.gov/police.
