GEORGIA — Two juveniles were arrested Friday after a firearm was brought onto the campus of Thomas Heyward Academy, according to authorities.
Officials said one student brought a gun to school and allowed another student to borrow it. The second student was reportedly showing the firearm to others and pointed it at another student, who then reported the incident to school faculty.
The Ridgeland Police Department was called to the school around 2:30 p.m. Officers responded to the scene, confiscated the firearm, and conducted interviews with students before arresting the two juveniles involved.
Police said the juveniles will be transported to Columbia and turned over to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. No injuries were reported, and no additional details were immediately released.
