Two stabbed, one struck by vehicle following Ohio domestic dispute

CHESAPEAKE — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a domestic violence incident that left two individuals with stab wounds and another injured after being struck by a vehicle.

The incident took place at approximately 10:50 p.m. on October 30, 2024, at 10592 CR 1, Chesapeake, Ohio.

According to authorities, Dimitri Callens, 26, of 1399 TR 293, Chesapeake, allegedly confronted his ex-girlfriend at the residence following an earlier encounter at a restaurant in Huntington, West Virginia, where he saw her with another person.

An argument broke out, during which Callens reportedly brandished a machete, stabbing 53-year-old Harold E. Maynard, of 522 PR 856, South Point, Ohio, in the neck and hand.

He also allegedly stabbed 20-year-old Harold M.A. Maynard, of 16 TR 1342, South Point, in the hand.

As Callens fled the scene, he struck 48-year-old Willa Maynard, of 522 PR 856, South Point, with his vehicle.

All three victims were transported by Lawrence County EMS to hospitals in Huntington, West Virginia.

Officials report that none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

Deputies located Callens at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. He faces three counts of Felonious Assault under Ohio Revised Code 2903.11, a second-degree felony.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
