Two seriously injured in Ohio crash

BROWN COUNTY — Two people were seriously injured in a crash Saturday night at the intersection of US Route 68 and Oakland Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers from the Georgetown Post responded to the scene around 7:39 a.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Ford pickup truck driven by 22-year-old William Freimuth of Bethel was traveling westbound on Oakland Road.

The truck entered the intersection and was struck by a southbound minivan driven by 43-year-old Melissa Lakes of Mount Orab.

The impact caused the pickup to veer off the left side of the road and collide with a utility pole. The minivan also left the roadway, ending up in a ditch.

Lakes sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by UC Air Care.

Her passenger, 21-year-old Charity Effinger of Mount Orab, was also seriously injured and transported to the same hospital.

Freimuth, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
