GEORGIA — A Liberty County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a student were treated for injuries following a fight involving multiple students Wednesday morning at Bradwell Institute, authorities said.

The altercation occurred at the high school, located at 100 Pafford St., and prompted a large law enforcement response to the campus.

According to Major Bill Kirkendall of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, several students were involved in a physical fight. A deputy serving as the school resource officer deployed pepper spray in an effort to break up the altercation and bring the situation under control.

Officials said several students who were nearby were affected by the pepper spray and were treated at the scene.

Authorities reported that the deputy sustained minor injuries to his hands during the incident. One student involved in the fight was transported by ambulance to Liberty Regional Medical Center with a minor injury.

Officials have not released additional details about the students involved or whether any charges will be filed.
