OHIO — A single-vehicle crash early Dec. 31 left two people injured and led to an investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, according to authorities.
Deputies said they received a report at about 1:15 a.m. of a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries near Township Road 280 and state Route 83 in Franklin Township. When emergency personnel arrived, they found a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck multiple trees.
Investigators determined the vehicle was being driven by Christopher Gallagher, 27, of Coshocton. Authorities said Gallagher and his passengers — Isabella Gallagher, 19, of Coshocton; Sandy Brown, 33, of Coshocton; and Nikita Atkins, 32, of West Lafayette — were traveling northeast on Township Road 280 from state Route 83 when the driver failed to maintain control. The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, traveled down an embankment, struck a tree, continued downhill, struck a second tree, and came to rest.
Officials said Christopher Gallagher and Isabella Gallagher fled the scene before emergency responders arrived. Brown and Atkins were transported by Coshocton County EMS to Coshocton Regional Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not known at the time of the report.
Authorities later located Christopher Gallagher and Isabella Gallagher at their residence on Township Road 283. Isabella Gallagher was evaluated by EMS and declined transport to the hospital. Christopher Gallagher was taken to Coshocton Regional Medical Center and, upon release, was placed under arrest. Charges are pending review by the prosecutor’s office.
Assisting agencies included Coshocton County EMS, the Conesville Volunteer Fire Department, the Coshocton City Fire Department, and Princes Wrecker Service.
