Two people injured following vehicle crash on I-95 in Virginia

VIRGINIA — Two people were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 North in Hanover County, occurring as Virginia faced its first winter storm of the season.

Virginia State Police said troopers were called to the northbound lanes near Old Ridge Road at about 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 5.

A 63-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital. Their injuries were reported as non–life-threatening.

State police said they do not believe weather played a role in the wreck. Even so, snow, freezing rain and ice created hazardous driving conditions across the state throughout the day. Between midnight and 4 p.m. Friday, troopers responded to more than 200 crashes statewide as winter weather moved across the Commonwealth.
