MARYLAND — Two people were injured Saturday evening after a two-vehicle crash that left one driver trapped inside a wrecked vehicle in Great Mills.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 5:10 p.m. on March 14 to the intersection of Pegg Road and Lexington Drive.

Firefighters with the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and multiple EMS units arrived to find two vehicles involved in the crash with airbags deployed. One occupant was trapped inside a vehicle.

Rescuers performed a door pop to gain access to the patient and were able to free the trapped driver within minutes of arriving on scene.

Both people involved in the crash were evaluated and treated by emergency medical personnel at the scene.

One patient was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, while the second patient was taken by ambulance to UM Capital Region Medical Center for further treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
