
FLORIDA — Two people were seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in Escambia County, according to a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.
An FHP news release stated that a pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old man from Pensacola ran off the roadway while attempting to pass another vehicle on East Quintette Road. After leaving the road, the truck traveled over a guardrail and struck two trees.
The driver and a 51-year-old female passenger, also from Pensacola, were trapped inside the vehicle following the crash. Both were extricated from the truck by Escambia County Fire and Rescue.
Authorities said both occupants were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. No additional details about their conditions were immediately released.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
