PENNSYLVANIA — A child was injured in a shooting Thursday morning in Chestnuthill Township near Effort, authorities said, and his stepfather has been charged in connection with the incident.

According to police, Andre Grissett arrived at a home and hugged his 10-year-old son when the child’s stepfather, Darius James, allegedly pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot Grissett in the head. The boy was struck in the arm, while Grissett sustained a head wound.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

James faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and endangering the welfare of children. He is being held in Monroe County Prison pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 2.
