OHIO — Two people were hospitalized following a shooting near the University of Akron late Saturday night, police said.
According to the Akron Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of East Exchange Street around 11:43 p.m. on Aug. 30.
When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man in a parking lot suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported by EMS to a hospital. His condition has not been released.
Police said an 18-year-old woman was also shot and taken to a hospital. No details about her condition were provided.
At this time, police have not announced any suspects or arrests.
