Two people injured following shooting incident in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Jacksonville police are investigating a violent incident that left two people injured early Saturday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Police Department, officers responded around 1:48 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, to the 100 block of Brynn Marr Road following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found one individual suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. That person was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

While officers were still on scene conducting their investigation, police were notified that a second individual had arrived at an area hospital with injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Preliminary information indicates the two injured individuals were known to each other and were involved in an altercation that escalated into violence. Police have not released additional details about the circumstances of the incident or the current conditions of the victims.
